Men’s Rugby

A pair of difficult losses last week against Acadia and Dalhousie had the Kingsmen primed for a big week in Halifax. Hosting the Cape Breton University Capers at Graves Oakley Field in Halifax, the Blue Devils endured a high scoring shootout with the Capers, with the team amassing a whomping 71 points between them, with King’s edging their visitors 40-31. Brad Jardine, Ethan Salsman, and Charlie Harris all tallied 10 points on the day with Jadrine and Salsman scoring a pair of tries apiece and Harris completing five conversions. Elsewhere, Garrett Horne continued his strong start to the season with a try, King’s newcomer Victor Quezada notched a try and conversion, and sophomore lock Ethan Hunt returned to the lineup after recovering from an ankle injury.

The Kinsmen will enjoy a healthy chunk of recovery time before their next trip out; a two-day excursion to Antigonish and Sydney to play St. Francis Xavier and Cape Breton again in quick succession. Having bested both teams at home, the Blue Devils will be keen to finish the series off and head back to Halifax 4-2 on the year.
