Junior Don | Cochran Bay

Andrew Samworth Andrew Samworth

Pronouns: he/him

Bachelor of Arts, University of King’s College (in progress)

Hi, my name is Andrew, and I am the Junior Don for Cochran Bay. You may see me around campus a lot as a fourth-year student at King’s and as a Barista at the Galley Cafe.

First year is so important, and a vital component of that is residence! Whether you are in residence for your first, second, or third (maybe fourth) year, I am here to help in any way I can.

Dons are either upper-year King’s students or young professionals who live within a residence floor or bay and provide support to residents in their community.

They can help with:

  • Peer support & mentorship
  • Community building & programming
  • Conflict resolution between community members
  • Providing referrals to campus supports

Dons are the first line of support for individuals living in residence. Residents are encouraged to reach out to their Don for initial support with any issues or concerns (residence-related or personal).

Dons do have their own commitments outside of King’s. Some are in their undergrad or working through a graduate degree; others have full-time jobs off campus. Dons will communicate their availability and contact information to their community members during the first community gathering meeting on Welcome Day.

There is a Don on Call available for urgent/immediate support each evening, weekend and holiday.

The Don on Call (4 p.m.–8 a.m. Mon–Fri & 24/7 on weekends and holidays) can assist with:

  • After hours incident response
  • After hours emergency response
  • After hours mental health crisis response
