BA (Simon Fraser)
In 2014/15 I took part in the Foundation Year Program as a King’s student in residence, and immediately fell in love with the college and all it had to offer. After two years at King’s as both a student and student employee working with Conference Services, I decided to transfer to Simon Fraser University to finish my degree in English and Curriculum Development and Instruction. During the summers of 2016-2018, I worked as a wilderness camp counselor, trip logistics facilitator and wilderness first responder, and heavily considered changing education paths to focus on outdoor education. After graduating, I spent some time soul searching and trying to determine whether I wanted to continue with SFU’s Professional Development Program to become a teacher, but I felt drawn to come back to King’s for the second time in 2019 and became the Don of Alexandra Hall Lower Level. When Covid hit in 2020, I went back home to support my family, worked a bunch of odd jobs, including freelance developmental editing where I worked on five different novels, and spent time in a long-term care facility as a housekeeper and care aide. But I always felt like I had unfinished business at King’s, so when the opportunity arose to return to my favourite place as Housing Coordinator, I packed my bags and moved back across the country.
After taking 5 years, 4 major/minor combo switches, 3 universities, 2 major concussions, and 1 failed class to get my degree, I understand that university can be both equally exciting and stressful, and I strive to support all students in residence. As the liaison between Residence Life, Facilities and the GDI cleaning staff, I am your greatest advocate for all things involving the physical space of residence, so don’t be afraid to reach out!
