Gavin Baumbach Gavin Baumbach

BA (Simon Fraser)

After having completed the Foundation Year Program in the 2014/15 school year, Gavin bounced around between schools (Dalhousie and SFU) and Majors (Theater and Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology, and Criminology) before finally settling on English Literature and Curriculum Development. At SFU, his Major focus of study was Romantic to Victorian period literature, as well as an in-depth study on Katherine Mansfield. His minor focused on the creation of more comprehensive and wholistic school curricula centered around English Literature (tying in all topics, such as History/Geography and Art or Theater, and even, to a lesser extent, the Maths and Sciences, to the novel being studied).

Over the past 3 years, Gavin has worked as an Outdoor Educator (a camp counselor and Trip Logistics Facilitator) at the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation Onondaga Farms camp, as well as being an SFU Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) representative and Peer Mentor.

During his free time, catch Gavin reading and writing, dabbling in sharpie portraiture drawing, singing and rocking out to music, playing card/board/video games, spending time in the outdoors, watching Netflix/Sports, and thinking way too much about hockey and his multiple fantasy pools.
