Dr. Justin O'Hearn Dr. Justin O'Hearn

PhD (University of British Columbia), MA (Simon Fraser University), BEd (University of Wollongong), BA(Hons) (Saint Mary's University)

Dr. Justin O’Hearn was born and raised in Halifax and left immediately after graduating from Saint Mary’s University (BA ’07) to begin his journey into the world of education. Earning his BEd and teaching secondary school in Australia, he returned to Canada with a newfound appreciation of pedagogy and the role of educators, especially in the arts and humanities, so decided to pursue graduate studies. Earning his MA from Simon Fraser University and eventually his PhD from the University of British Columbia, Justin combined his research, organization and teaching skills to embark on a career in higher education administration.

After working in various roles in faculties and service units at UBC, Justin, his partner, Carla, two cats (Sokka and Katara) and dog (Blanche) returned to the east coast. Coming to the role of Interim Registrar with King’s, Justin is extremely excited to meet and work with the entire UKC community and to help continue the long-established traditions of the institution, as well as to embark on important work that serves current, as well as prospective, students and alumni best.

While Justin is an administrator at the university, he still enjoys continuing his research that began during his PhD into clandestine Victorian publishing and is always happy to talk about old books when the opportunity arises.
