Kutay Ulkuer’s approach to the international education sector is guided by the rich combination of professional insights and extensive lived experience he has accumulated since leaving his birthplace of Turkey to pursue an education in Canada. A proponent of lifetime learning, Kutay began his formal education with an advanced undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, N.S., followed by a Masters in Industrial Relations from Queen’s in Kingston, Ont.

His career in postsecondary education began 18 years ago as a recruiter for Saint Mary’s. He later served nearly a decade at Queen’s, initially as Manager of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment, and later as Acting Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions. For the past 12 years, Kutay has held roles at the executive level. Through this time, he gained an in-depth understanding of enrolment challenges across the complete student life cycle.

In 2017 Kutay seized the opportunity to return to Atlantic Canada, which he now considers home, to become the Director of Recruitment, Admissions, and Awards at Mount Allison University, before joining King’s in 2024 as Chief Enrolment and Student Life Officer. He enjoys addressing the complex challenges of the postsecondary sector and specializes in building effective teams capable of identifying creative solutions and guiding those teams to success through collaboration.

A global citizen, Kutay has lived, studied and worked in countries that include Kazakhstan, China, the Middle East, the USA and Canada.
