First-Year Interest Groups

First-Year Interest Groups

Dive deeper into your first year experience.

Through our partnership with Dalhousie University, King’s students can register for First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs), which are small study groups that put you in conversation with students from a variety of programs about a shared interest. Each group of around 15 students will meet weekly for a 50-minute session that’s part tutorial, part study group, and part social get-together. First Year Interest Groups are free to enrol in and adding one to your schedule can help you broaden your perspective on your courses of study.

Detailed registration information will be available in Late April. Students register for FIGS during first-year course registration in June.

Science FIGs

These First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs) are open to any new student in the Faculty of Science who is entering as a first-year undeclared BSc student. Depending on your course of study, some FIGS may be not be available to you, and some FIGs may conflict with a scheduled Foundation Year Program lecture or tutorial. If you are a FYP student interested in FIGs, we encourage you to contact Jennifer O’Keefe, Academic & Enrolment Services at jennifer.okeefe@ukings.ca.
