Holiday closure: The King's campus is closed from end of day December 20 to January 2.
Build skills in a specialized area of study by adding a certificate to your undergraduate degree. A certificate is a separate credential for courses taken in a specific subject area, with their own specific requirements.
Most certificate programs are taken concurrently in your undergraduate degree, with your credit hours counting towards both your certificate and your chosen area of study in your degree program.
You can take King’s courses as part of a certificate in Medical Humanities or Art History & Visual Culture, or choose from many more certificates offered through our partnership with Dalhousie.

*Note: Certificates can be accommodated within many degree programs. However, certificates that require more than 18 credit hours (including pre-requisites) and/or that are offered outside of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Faculty of Science, may require deliberate academic planning during the early stages of your degree. In some cases, to accommodate these programs, students may not be able to satisfy all requirements in eight semesters and may need to take courses in the summer or devote an additional academic year to their studies. Additionally, students interested in certificates outside of the faculty of their degree program may need to complete a Minor in the faculty of the certificate they are interested in. This is to ensure they don’t exceed the amount of credit hours permitted from outside their Faculty.
Students should refer to both the King’s Academic Calendar and the Dalhousie Academic Calendar for degree requirements and program eligibility. Students are also encouraged to speak with an academic advisor for assistance with planning.
There are five certificates that have King’s courses among their requirements. Courses you take in the King’s Honours Programs can lead to the following certificates:
