Blue Devils Round-Up Feb. 10-16

After a jam-packed weekend with 6 total games and 1 Championship Tournament, see how each UKC team is shaking out in the results as the seasons wind down…

Women’s Basketball

A rough overnight trip to New Brunswick saw the UKC Ladies drop both games; the first to MTA and the second to STU. Though these losses may have costs them a chance at a 3 seed, the Blue Devils have punched their ticket to ACAA Basketball Playoffs next month in Halifax. King’s will play in the 4 vs. 5 match up against the Mounties from Mount Allison. In the meantime, the Blue Devils will have 2 games to prepare themselves, the first at Holland college, before returning home for the season finale agains the Chargers of Crandall University. ACAA Basketball Playoffs will starts March 6 at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax.

Men’s Basketball

Another 2 losses on the road have pushed the UKC Men into a corner. With only 2 games remaining, the Blue Devils must win out to preserve a chance at reaching the postseason. The Kingsmen will next head to the PEI to take on Hurricanes of Holland College, before returning home for another must win matchup against Crandall. It’ll be all hands on deck for both games as the young UKC team tries to keep their playoff dreams alive.

Women’s Volleyball

Like their female peers on the Basketball court, the UKC Ladies Volleyball team have already guaranteed their spot at ACAA Volleyball Playoffs. In a weekend that was largely a symbolic, the Blue Devils managed 1 win from their 2 games, earning a 3-1 win over the Seawolves of UNBSJ, before dropping a Senior-Day set to the Tommies of STU. On a crash course with bitter rivals, the MSVU Mystics, the UKC team will have two more games to prepare for playoffs before heading back to New Brunswick for the post season.

Badminton

Three-peat! King’s Badminton won another championship, this time on home court. Five Blue Devils ‘baddies’ will also represent the ACAA at next month’s CCAA championships.
