Nicole Ponto is the latest recruit to be added by new women’s volleyball coach, Beate Shannon, ahead of her first ACAA season. Ponto, a 5-10 left side hitter, won the Saskatchewan provincial title in 2019 with Luther College High School. As a transfer from neighboring Dalhousie University, Ponto will play for the Blue Devils while continuing to study sciences, with a focus in neuroscience.
Ponto will join a rookie-heavy roster, with captain Emma Wilson and fellow middle Leah Hartlen the only returning players from the 2019-20 team that made an ACAA semi-final appearance, before last season was cancelled due to COVID-19. King’s are scheduled to begin competition on the weekend of October 23, in the ACAA Preseason Tip-Off Tournament.
