Join King’s faculty for a panel discussion exploring the development and implementation of oral exams in the Foundation Year Program (FYP). Drawing on their experiences, panelists will discuss the design, organization, facilitation and evaluation of oral examinations, including considerations related to grading, fairness, accessibility and accommodations.
The panel will also reflect on the educational benefits of oral exams, their impact on student learning and engagement, and consideration of alignment of this assessment format with discipline and course content. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from our colleagues’ practices, ask questions and consider the potential of oral exams within their own teaching contexts.
Panelists
Daniel Brandes, Assistant Professor of Humanities, FYP
Tim Clarke, Associate Professor, Associate Director (Student Support), FYP
Neil Robertson, Director, Foundation Year Program
Clare Sully-Stendhal, Faculty Fellow in the Humanities, FYP
The session will be dual delivery.
