Experiential Learning

What you learn at King’s prepares you for life after you graduate.

At King’s we have a special regard for the way education shapes personal development. Our goal is to help students to understand their strengths and values, and to help them become the person they’re capable of becoming.

The Experiential Learning Program provides opportunities for students to expand their experiences and potential. It supports them in finding places to develop and make a crucial contribution to the world.

Experiential Learning Stories

Ready to Launch

In partnership with MITACS, Cameron Nyman worked for an aerospace company. “They were interested in somebody who understood the scientific process, but also wanted to contextualize scientific inquiry, scientific innovation..."

Learning through Doing

Social anthropology student Ruth McGill worked as a Research Coordinator for the Black Planning Project. She helped with interviewing, report writing and presentation. “I had learned the theories, I had learned the methods,” she said. “...But this is my first real experience of actually applying it every step of the way.”

On the high seas

For philosophy and contemporary studies student Emily Gilbert, a self-described outlier, a summer spent at Ocean School was supposed to be about researching and writing firmly on land, but opportunity knocked and she was suddenly filming on a boat and making the most of her chance.
